Elementary Art Classes - Ongoing enrollment

Registration/Payment - register by phone at 207-967-9120 or at the front desk with your payment before the deadline. In either case, payment by check or credit card is required to hold your place in a class or workshop. Deadline: Please register no later than one week prior to the first meeting of the class. All classes have minimum and maximum enrollment requirements, so early registration will improve the chances of a class running or filling up without you! As always, please let us know if you need partial or full scholarship assistance. We are located in Lower Village, 35 Western Avenue, Kennebunk.

Peter Pan

February 21-24, 9-2pm, $175.
Beak a leg during February Vacation! The beloved play, Peter Pan, will be the focus of our theatre camp. Using theatre & improvisational games to warm up, students will create a safe & inviting space to perform. Throughout the week, actors will be busy learning lines, creating costumes and sets for an end of the week live performance. No experience needed! Come enjoy a week on the stage with River Tree Arts. Performance will be 2:00pm, Friday, 2/24. Friends & family are invited.

Multi-Age Art a la Carte
Saturdays, 9:30-11:00am, $45
This is the perfect class for families who have multi-age siblings or for kids looking for a Saturday art class.
Children from 4-10 will each work at their own pace to complete the same project. From sculpture, painting techniques
to creating handmade books, each class will offer fun projects for everyone. Ingrid Roeder

Art Explorers
Mondays, 3:30-5pm, $85
Young artists will be given an opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of mediums. Each class will have a primary activity that will demonstrate a technique and introduce an artistic style. Additional stations will encourage the young artists to continue their artistic exploration through painting, drawing, printing, weaving and sculpture. Lela Williams

Intro to Sewing  Mondays, 3:30-5pm, $85 Session 2: Hand sewing will be the basis of this class. Students will make decorative pillows, housewares and fashion accessories. Sewing machines may be introduced during the session. Class size limited to 6. Lucy Hardy

Cartooning Class for Kids   Wednesdays, 3:30-5pm, $85
Learn the tricks of the trade from master cartoonist Steve Hrehovcik. Focus will be on facial features, figures in motion, settings and how to tell a funny story with line drawings. Steve Hrehovcik Session one: 12/14, 21, 1/4, 11, 18, 25

Advanced Drawing Class  
Saturdays, 10 – 11:30am, ages 8 – 14.
Discover the “secrets” of drawing dramatic pictures that attract attention by learning how to use effective lines, basic shapes, dynamic shading, balanced composition and skillful perspective to create stunning figure drawings, scenic views, architectural structures, and thoughtful still life compositions. Session 3: March 10, 17 & 24

Jewelry Studio  Elementary, Tuesdays, 3:30-5pm, $85
Make your own jewelry! Each week, choose from bracelets, earrings &necklaces. Learn to use glass and crystal beads, chain, and fabric. 'Wearable sculpture' pins constructed with Friendly Plastic, Sculpey, and other mixed media. You will design your own creations. We will also experiment with how to package your work for presentation, gift-giving and sales. Nantz Comyns

Early Release Wednesdays, RSU 21
12:30-3:30pm, $25 or 12:30-5pm, $35

Always the first Wednesday of every month. When school gets out early, kids take the bus to River Tree Arts for one of two fun options:

Option 1 runs from 12:30 to 3:30. In-depth art projects with ‘talented River Tree art faculty’.

Option 2 extends until 5:00 p.m. where kids can spend the second part of the afternoon in a Cartooning Class for Kids, for an additional fee
