Lauren Hastings

Lauren began playing the violin at age 5, initially with the Suzuki Method. She is a graduate of Walnut Hill School for the Arts, in Natick, MA, where she was also a student at the New England Conservatory Preparatory Program. She then completed a Bachelor’s in Violin Performance, followed by a Master’s in Ethnomusicology at Boston University, for which she wrote her thesis about the local music scene of Portland, ME.

Lauren’s violin teachers have included Dean Stein, formerly of the DaPonte String Quartet; Ferdinand “Dino” Liva, of the DaPonte String Quartet; Will Fedkenheuer, formerly of the Borromeo String Quartet; Yuri Mazurkevich; and Rosemary Furniss of the London Chamber Orchestra. Lauren now performs regularly with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and with various classical and rock musicians around the state of Maine. She sustains her interest in different musical styles from around the world, along with her love and commitment to classical music, by taking full advantage of Maine’s many musical and cultural offerings.
