PECHA KUCHA NIGHT IS COMING TO KENNEBUNK

An International Sensation of Short, Creative Presentations

Pecha Kucha Night – the international sensation of short, creative presentations – is coming to River Tree Arts Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Kennebunk (Lower Village).

Doors open at 6:30pm and the program begins at 7:20pm. Cost is $5 at the door.

Launched in 2003 by two Tokyo architects, Pecha Kucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) is a short presentation format (20 slides, 20 seconds each) that focuses on creativity and the creative process. It was conceived to provide creative professionals with a place to meet, mingle and share their work.

Each presentation is limited to just six minutes and forty seconds, so the audience is exposed to many ideas and a broad range of topics in rapid-pace succession. The list of possible topics is endless, and may feature presentations on such wide-ranging creative topics as painting, photography, furniture building, architecture, sculpture, journal writing, exotic travel, list making and solar engineering – to name only a few possibilities.

The program consists of 10 short presentations, with a refreshment break after the first five. Beer and wine will be available for purchase; light snacks provided free of charge.

Pecha Kucha Night has become an international sensation, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world (including Portland, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire), inspiring creative people around the globe.

It’s a must-see “happening” for anyone interested in new ideas and creative thinking, and an inexpensive, fun night out with a group of fascinating people.

Include the following:

* Name, profession and telephone number
* 2-5 images only of your work (saved as a jpg., each image maximum size: 1280x768, we are not able to review files outside of these parameters)
* Some biographical information about yourself and what you would like to present.

Slide samples are due by November 1 for the November 17th Pecha Kucha Night Kennebunk.

We will reply to your email shortly. All selected presenters will need to have their 20 images submitted to us one week before each Pecha Kucha Night. We are aiming for a mix of work so the Pecha Kucha Night Kennebunk collaborators will curate the presenters for each event to encourage diversity.
